 How To Spot A Fake Online Degree Program

More and more people are being imprisoned or sued for obtaining better-paying employment by obtaining bogus university degrees. Sometimes this is done with malice, and other times it is done because the victims mistakenly believe their college or university diplomas are legitimate. This is because many of these so-called "universities and schools" that offer phony degrees have positioned themselves in such a way that they are perceived as genuine, particularly those bogus degree mills that provide university degrees online.

Take the case of Laura Callahan, who was the deputy chief information officer in the United States Department of Homeland Security, a high-security agency, where it was determined in June 2003 that her university degree was a forgery. Because of the high-profile nature of university degree fraud, employers must be extremely cautious about the qualifications of new and current employees.

Fake University and College Degree Warning Signs

To detect phony university and college degrees, check for the following signs:-

1) Degree dates - The dates on the degrees are out of sequence, which raises suspicion. For example, acquiring a high school diploma, followed by a bachelor's degree, an MBA or Master's degree, and finally, a Ph.D. degree should be the qualification sequence. If a person has a Ph.D. without a bachelor's or master's degree, or if he has a higher degree before a lesser one, his credentials are highly suspect. Someone with this discrepancy, on the other hand, may have studied for degrees in various fields.

2) Imitation of well-known and accredited universities and colleges- Some degree mills copied the names of well-known and authorized universities. Hamilton University, for example, is a spoof of the respected Hamilton College.

3) Degree errors - Look for errors such as misspellings and grammatical problems. The seal of the university should be embossed rather than printed. Genuine universities and colleges value their degrees and will not accept such errors.

4) Quick degrees - Fake university and college degrees are marked by degrees earned in a short time or many degrees gained in a short period.

What can a boss do if he discovers that an employee is using a phony fake degree to get a job? A police complaint may be required based on the fraudster's job scope and seniority, as clients of the company may have been duped into doing something they would not have done otherwise as a result of the employee's fabrication of his educational qualifications.

If the firm has experienced damages as a result of the employee's misrepresentation of executing a job that he is not competent to do, civil proceedings might be filed against him. So, don't be tempted to earn a phony fake degree to deceive others because you could face criminal charges as well as a civil suit.
